Instructions to make Caramel apples:
  1. In a medium greased pot heat to med-low heat on stove top. Add in caramel squares and water and stir until caramel is melted and smooth. Add food coloring and incorporate.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spray with cooking spray.
  3. Stick in twigs at tops of each apple. Dip in caramel coating completely using a spoon if necessary. Twirl to coat completely. Let caramel dip off and then tip over stick side down an out 20 sec. to let caramel set. Place on parchment paper.
  4. Let cool and serve.

I typically use Granny Smith apples, but you can use other varieties if you prefer such as Fuji, Braeburn, Gala or Pink Lady. I like to use candy melts instead of chocolate chips.
